X95j review9/1/2023 ![]() It's very bright and the picture is punchy generally stunning. My advice to you would be to turn on the TV - watch your normal stuff and if you're happy with what you see, don't go searching for things that you don't notice on your normal viewing. ![]() However after running a few times and focusing on the screen I noticed it. I didn't really know what Grid effect was either and first time I ran the test pattern I couldn't see it. One of the things highlighted in a few reviews is that this TV performs much better with real viewing vs with test patterns.Īs such, I wish I had not bothered running any and just stuck to normal viewing. It disappears as soon as any content starts. The FALD is great for this TV but its turned off during menus for Netflix and the like, so have only noticed some DSE then. In routine viewing of the above I would say I have never noticed the grid effect or any significant blooming. I'm not a sports fan so can't comment too much in that area. ![]() I watch mainly Sky Q, Netflix and amazon prime and of late quite a bit of gaming with the PS5 and Xbox series X. I've had the XR85X95J for about 7 weeks now and had good time to put it through its paces. Haven't seen any Oled tvs yet and I know they will be be better in this regard, however the XR95J more than punches it weight for an LCD! Colour looks great right out of the box.īlack levels look fantastic to me (however my previous reference point was low). Haven't tweaked the settings too much apart from the luminance and HDR settings and turned the motion settings off. Similarly a bit of blooming running the test patterns (mainly subtitles) but haven't noticed it all while watching movies etc. In real world use - zero issues apparent with this. ![]() I think I can't just about make out a vague grid effect but don't know if this is just in my head. Ran the DSE test and the panel looks great to me. Both seem great and plumped for the XR85X95J in the end due to good deal online and being curious, as never have owned a Sony Bravia before. Looked about quite a bit between Samsung models and the Sony. Upgrading from a 65inch hisense K720 which was around 5 years old and had no HDR. Unfortunately been away from home since then but back now and had a good play about last night. I recently acquired the XR85X95J around 2 weeks ago. ![]()
